Operational Assessment
A structured review of a defined area of your business to identify what is unclear, inefficient, undocumented, or getting in the way of consistent execution.
Overview
An Operational Assessment is the starting point when you know something needs to be fixed, but the root problem is not yet clear.
KBS reviews how a specific area of the business currently operates, where work is getting stuck, where ownership is unclear, and where a better structure may be needed. The goal is to give leadership a clear picture of what is happening, what is missing, and what should be addressed first.
This is not a full business rebuild. It is a focused assessment of one defined operational area, workflow group, department, or recurring business issue.
Who This Is For
This service is a good fit for businesses that are dealing with operational friction but need a clearer understanding of the problem before committing to a larger project.
It may be the right starting point if:
Work is getting delayed or stuck without a clear reason
Responsibilities are unclear or overlapping
Information is scattered across people, emails, spreadsheets, or folders
A process works differently depending on who handles it
Leadership keeps having to step in to fix the same issues
The business depends too much on memory, habit, or one person knowing how everything works
You need an outside review before deciding what to build or change
What Is Included
The Operational Assessment may include:
Pre-assessment questionnaire
Review of current workflows, documents, tools, and pain points
Stakeholder interviews or discovery conversations
Identification of gaps, bottlenecks, and unclear ownership
Review of existing process documentation, if available
Written findings report
Prioritized recommendation summary
Debrief call to review findings and next steps
What You Receive
At the end of the assessment, you receive a clear summary of what KBS found and what should happen next.
The deliverable is designed to help you understand:
What is working
What is not working
Where the business is relying on informal habits instead of structure
What needs to be documented, clarified, redesigned, or built
Which issues should be addressed first
What should happen next, whether that involves another KBS engagement, action completed internally by your team, or support from a different specialist.
Not sure where to start?
That is the reason to begin with an assessment.

Scope Note
The Operational Assessment is focused on diagnosis and recommendations. It does not include full process design, SOP development, implementation support, or ongoing management unless those items are added through a separate scope of work.
KBS will confirm the scope, deliverables, timeline, and project price before paid work begins.
